Technical Field Consultant - BP&RMgt

JJ is the Abron Field Consultant for the Bay of Plenty area. He has worked for Abron since 2009.

JJ comes from a farming background having been bought up on a sheep and beef farm in the Hawkes Bay.
He graduated with a degree in Parks and Recreation Management from Lincoln University in 1991.  His particular interest was in ecology. Following completion of his degree, JJ has worked in areas of conservation, forestry, farming, and aviation.

In 2001 he became involved with the Kiwifruit industry when he and his wife purchased a Kiwifruit orchard near Opotiki. With Zespri offering financial incentives for quality fruit this strengthened his desire to understand all the drivers of product quality and influences of soil fertility. This quest has led him to seek information from near and far from those who practice and promote sustainable agriculture. JJ has attended Arden Anderson courses in 2006 and 2007 and also Graham Sait’s courses in 2008 and 2009.

Having two young children has heightened his awareness as a farmer of the need to grow truly nourishing food and to help others who are similarly motivated. He enjoys putting together fertiliser programmes that treat the whole natural system, to produce high quality crops, healthy productive animals and farms that improve in performance over time.
