Technical Field Consultant - Dip Ag, BSc, MSc
Rhys brings practical farming experience as well as an academic and research background to Abron.
After several years working on dairy and mixed cropping farms in Canterbury, Rhys left farm life to pursue firstly a science degree, at Lincoln University, and then more recently a Masters of Science. This change in career direction was brought about by a desire to make a difference to agriculture, learn more about biological and sustainable farming and a new-found interest in Arden Andersen’s practices and beliefs which were ignited by a stint working on a cropping farm in Western Australia on his OE.
His university studies included a pure science degree majoring in soil and plant sciences. Following this he worked at the Centre of Research Excellence as a technician developing potential biological control organisms at Lincoln University and then at Plant and Food Research as a research associate in arable agronomy. These positions further helped Rhys to develop skills in soil microbial function and broad acre agronomic practices.
Rhys is passionate about the importance of soil biological systems and their functions, and how this important, often neglected diversity of life can help soils achieve their full potential. Rhys looks forward to working with new and existing clients to make a difference and a positive and sustainable impact on their farm productivity.
